The competition is scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia from November 7 to 14, according to Al-Yawm news website.
The religious affairs department of the Arab country’s armed forces will organize the Quranic event.
Head of the department Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Aziz al-Hussein said the category of “most beautiful voice” will be included in this edition for the first time.
The cash awards have also been increased to 1.5 million along with Tajweed, Tarteel and meanings of the words, he noted.
The other categories are memorization of the entire Quran along with Tajweed, Tarteel and meanings of the words, memorization of 20 Juzes (parts) along with Tajweed, Tarteel and meanings of the words, memorization of ten Juzes along with Tajweed, Tarteel and meanings of the words, and memorization of five Juzes along with Tajweed, Tarteel and meanings of the words, he stated.
Al-Hussein added that the competition is aimed at encouraging armed forces all over the world to memorize the Quran and contemplate the concepts of the Book of God.
The official also said that more than 40 Arab and Islamic countries have been invited to send their representatives to the contest.
Earlier, the organizers had said that a number of top Quran experts from different parts of the Muslim world will form the panel of judges.
